Founder and President: She began her franchising career more than 30 years ago as Money Mailer’s first franchisee then was hired as their Vice President of Franchise Support Services. As part of the Great Clips, Inc. executive staff, Mary Ann helped launch two major markets and supported several emerging and mature markets. As a consultant, she has worked with more than 100 major brands as well as new concepts and the top professionals in the world of franchising. Mary Ann and FranWise® focus on: strategic planning related to franchise conversion, franchise operations, process and procedure, compliance, manuals and training.
She is an active member of the IFA, sits on the IFA’s Board of Directors, is chairman of the Membership Committee and Vice Chairman of the Supplkier Forum Board. Mary Ann is a frequent speaker and writer for many industry events and publications.
When not working, Mary Ann is active in her community and can be found in the kitchen.
David has had a varied career and brings a lot of expertise to his writing. He was a marketing manager and project manager for Toshiba and Fujitsu, spent many years in the telecommunications field and is a trained and accomplished chef. Dave trained in the finest restaurants in New York and Boston and studied in New York and France. He is also a certified technical writer and holds several technical accreditations from Cisco and other software firms.
Dave recently published his first book, “Potage” a culinary memoir and cook book.
Carolyn brings over 25 years of deep expertise in designing and managing franchise compliance and administration programs. She offers a flexible writing style, impeccable attention to detail, and is valued for her skills in drafting and editing compliance policies, manuals, website content (web governance), and franchise disclosure documents. Her experience includes 20 years with the haircare franchisor Great Clips, Inc., during which time she was selected by Great Clips’ owner to edit and fact check the company’s history book.
Fun fact: Carolyn spent 33 years working and living in the United States, and now writes for us from her home in England where she enjoys the advantages of putting in a full day of writing before our clients get to the office!

is a former high school English teacher who has been i Involved in franchising for nearly 25 years, both as a franchisee and with the franchisor. As a franchisee with Computer Explorers, she and her husband received the first “Franchisee of the Year” award and were the first 2-unit owners. After transferring their business to new owners, they moved to corporate headquarters in Great Falls, VA and then to Houston, Texas. Over the course of her association with the company, Perkins headed franchise support with emphasis on marketing and customer service, franchise development, and new-owner training. Her scope of experience makes her uniquely able to understand the needs of both the franchisee and the franchisor … and the importance of readable manuals!
In addition to working in franchising, Perkins loves to travel and has visited six of the seven continents, “We have Antarctica on our Bucket List,” she reports, “but now that I live in Florida, the ice floes have much less appeal!’
